Rafferty Report. LOG ENTRY 1

As we begin the journey to acquire precious minerals and catalog fauna and species across the galaxy to line the halls of our upcoming historical museum project in New Atlantis. I thought it would be best to keep a log of our journey as a memento of this groundbreaking occasion. I, Drake Rafferty, am currently on my way to Vectera, a moon of the planet Anselon. I found a company willing to take me on as a contracted miner to really get my hands dirty and into the thick of things. By day's end, we'll be experiencing a dig firsthand. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about the journey ahead, but we can't let this opportunity to establish a physical database pass us by. I have a background in historical studies, especially when it comes to the old world, Earth, where our origin seems to have stemmed from. Living as an explorer and researcher, I've grown accustomed to the terrors and dangers that space exploration entails. Pirates and smugglers, aggressive wildlife, and life-threatening dangers exist across any planet or solar system. -Rafferty

Update: It's been 48 hours since my initial data log. My world is spinning, and I'm still trying to process the events that unfolded. While excavating in the mine, we came across something strange—what looked like an engraved stone with markings I've yet to encounter in text. Upon interacting with the stone, I experienced some sort of hallucinogenic episode. Bright lights. A strange melodic melody, and then darkness. I awoke in a medical bay some time later, struggling to remember who I was. I guess it's a good thing I started this log. The leader of the dig, Lin, introduced me to a man named Barrett who claims to have experienced this same phenomenon and informed me about a group who may be able to help me discover more about this object. "Constellation". We started this journey looking for knowledge and relics, and we stumbled upon the most mysterious one. In a few hours, I'll be taking Barrett's ship, accompanied by his robot Vasco, back to New Atlantis in search of this group. - Rafferty.. at least I hope..

After some time, we landed on the outskirts of New Atlantis on Jemison. It's been at least a decade since I've really been outside city boundaries, and I wanted to experience the sights and nature of my own home to acclimate myself to something familiar after my episode. I've almost forgotten the beauty of Jemison, a lush wooded landscape dotted with hills and bountiful flora taller than a human man. On my way towards the city, I stumbled upon a glacial remnant, suggesting a much different past for our home. I will make a note to reassess and look into it later.

The members of Constelation must see me as somewhat their own version of a rare artifact or find. In exchange for helping them decipher the episode I had, they're offering me full access to their research and lab equipment, as well as boarding. As we continue on further into space, it'll be nice to have my own lab to work in and further our database. I'm assuming the leader, Sarah Morgan, wants me to accompany her on a quick trip to Cydonia, a mining colony on Mars. We'll spend the rest of the week preparing and stocking up on necessities before beginning our travels. Our path ahead almost certainly consists of a never-ending chase by pirates in the area, so the more prepared we are going in, the better our chances. I will update again once I have a better bearing on what's truly going on with me. -Rafferty
