Do we need Halo to be Infinite?

It's no secret that Halo has sadly fallen from grace compared to where it once was. What was once a franchise that Xbox as a brand built itself upon is now another FPS in an oversaturated market trying to stay afloat. Is there a future where Halo will have a reason to be in the Xbox community, or should it be put to rest for the foreseeable future?  Recent staffing changes within 343 seem to point to a new direction for the team and franchise as a whole.

In the past year, 343 has lost the likes of Bonnie Ross, Frank O'Connor, and more recently, Joseph Staten, who left to start a new IP at Netflix's growing gaming division. These departures, along with a wave of layoffs across Microsoft, have seemingly shaken the studio from the ground up. Ross, the former studio head of 343, Staten, who served as cinematic director of the original trilogy, and OConnor, who's served numerous roles over a 20-year span with the franchise, are all names that Halo fans recognize and know. With them plus countless other old guard staff, what now? Hopefully change.

With no disrespect to long-time employees at 343 Industries, Halo doesn't have the gravitas to be the face of the Xbox brand like it used to. To it's credit  Halo Infinite after multiple delays launched to a huge welcoming and a revitallized esports standing. However the core of the game was in an unfinished state, things like split screen Co-op and the popular Forge mode were missing for well over a year, longer than your average player would be willing to wait. Content updates were few and far between eventually losing all steam the game had going for it. Since the glory days of Halo 2 and 3, Xbox has multiplied time and time again in size and IP. New franchises are growing and are in the pipeline to help push Xbox forward, and I feel it's time for Halo to take a break.

I've never been a fan of IP-specific studios; I'd be ecstatic if The Coalition took a break from Gears, and 343 could do with a break from Halo. Having a group of talented creative individuals focused on one property for 10+ years is eventually going to start taking a toll on the team and their creative freedom.
Personally, I'd love to see the series go away as the flagship title for a few years. If you absoluetly feel the need to keep it aliive give it to some other studios, let the likes of iD Software, MachineGames, or even Obsidian do something within the Halo space to expand on the universe and lore; we've seen it before with Halo Wars and Spartan Assault. It gives Xbox the Halo theme without forcing it into a spotlight that it's not ready for. Let 343 do something new. I'm sure with the old guard leaving and new talent rising in the ranks, there are plenty of fresh ideas they could work off of. Yeah, they'll maybe take longer to release, but with the number of studios Xbox is handling right now, that's more than OK.
